Blah, blah, blah...
Estimated value of the following == two cents
Have been thinking about the synergies between BI and web development. So many (even smallish companies) have long been utilizing intranets for information delivery. Coupled with the biggest players in BI developing rich web delivery for dynamic graphical and tabular data - the history of these technology implementations has long been one of mutual dependence... Why? So much of today's customer inputs are accumulated from web applications. The purpose of interaction, who is interacting with an organization's website, was the experience successful? Understanding these traits is key to customer facing businesses.
Many times, questionable data can be linked back to poor behavior of the source web application. The mechanics of interacting with a corp site on the web define the sort of data the host makes available...

Sure; not the typical product launch. Nice way to look at what's happening in this particular storm though. What a flurry it is too; and these are orders [projected] yeesh! Guardian's tech blog has a good article
Will this device live up to the hype?
You know it will. The new definition of a personal computing device - something that just works when you turn it on. Just like our phones do (well the phone doesn't always work but it pretends to).
When this launch is lost to memory in the dust of billions of personal tablets that are going to be sold in the next decades. Maybe the salvation of news organizations, another conduit for the truly free press. Did you hear Yahoo was getting into the game with original news content? Not saying the ipad is responsible for that move, just that a long time deliverer of others content is stepping up.
Raskin's vision arrives at last, and we're here to touch it, use it and ultimately grow very dependent on it.

"And those who choose to throw it away only make themselves poorer".
How to leverage the information scattered across your enterprise is a smoldering question being asked by organizations all over the planet. Mining that information, representing interesting aspects through meaningful presentation - regularly - this is actionable business intelligence.
Databases, reporting tools and how many other frameworks?
Cognos, pentaho, business objects, and teradata to name a few. What flavor is your shop using? What about the database? Iformatica, SQL Server, Oracle, open source? What about mixing it up and building self contained, portable controllers functioning independently to keep marts and warehouses in sync with their online sources?
And after those calls are made, the real work implementing the stack begins. Team rolls up collective sleeves, knocks out a functional system to begin feeding the delivery framework... and typically splits up back into the design oriented folks who start refactoring the whole thing to cope with the wow factor.
How long does it take to build your bridge? How long to repaint it?
